The Odds Poker Calculators Compute

We may have been hearing about poker or Holdem odds calculators since we first heard of poker online. And maybe we've been wondering what kind of calculators they are—are they like those with the 4 basic mathematical operations? Or probably we've also been wondering what odds these calculators try to solve.

First, odds calculators for poker or Texas Holdem are not like our calculators for solving problems in addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. Poker calculators do use mathematical algorithms but this is more in comparing card ranks and the different aspects of the game. "Mathematical" here does not mean we compute the square root of numbers and divide them by certain divisors—or something to that effect.
